Summer Solstice Wildlife Walks

Discover bird life, wild flowers, Welsh names for wildlife and traditional uses of plants, at this special time of year.

Summer solstice, or mid-summer’s day is a celestial event when the sun is at its highest point in the sky and the daylight hours at their longest. It is a time traditionally honoured by Celts, pagans and druids among others. Discover more about ancient solstice celebrations and spiritual beliefs.

Nature is at its most abundant and wildlife activity at its zenith. Herbs and wildflowers are most potent for harvesting and medicinal use at this time. Join a walk to celebrate and explore the magic of midsummer.
