Great success – Holy Island Wildlife Walking Challeng – Anglesey Walking Festival

Had a most wonderful weekend walking, with great people – and what can I say about the perfect weather conditions? Blue skies for the entire 26 mile walk around Holy Island!
We saw so many wildflowers. The cliffs all along the coastal path were stuffed with sea pinks, spring squill, bluebells, violets, sea campion, yellow kidney vetch and birds-foot trefoil.
We saw chough, peregrine, shag with chicks, stonechat, guillemot, razorbill, fulmar, linnet, skylark, sedge warbler and whitethroat to name a few.
We had fantastic views of seals – swimming in the sea and sunbathing on the rocks.
Several picnic and snack stops were made, including tea and cake at South Stack cafe on Saturday and yummy scones and jam and tea at Outdoor Alternative on Sunday.
I feel privilaged to live and walk on this beautiful island and it is such a pleasure to share the walking and wildlife with others!
