Heathland & Seals Walk for Anglesey Marine Week Sun 19th Aug 10.30am

Join this beautiful walk to celebrate Anglesey Marine Week. Take this opportunity to walk in the fabulous flowering maritime heathland on Penrhosfeilw common and learn to identify the three different kinds of heather. Find out which plants are edible and which ones have medicinal properties. We may also see the rare silver studded blue butterfly and common lizard if its warm and calm.

We will walk to the tide race where atlantic grey seal are commonly seen, either swimming offshore or basking on distant rocks at low tide. Sometimes it is also possible to see gannets plunge diving off the headland – a really amazing spectacle. Binoculars will be available for you to use.

The walk will last about 2 hours and be gently paced. Please wear good shoes and be prepared for sun, wind or rain!
The charge is £4 for adults and £2 for children. Half the proceeds will go to the Marine Conservation Society.
Places are limited so please book with Kathy from naturebites at naturebites.wordpress@gmail.com or call 07790431087.
